This release introduces significant enhancements to app-server integrations, now supporting Unix socket transport, pagination-friendly resume/fork, sticky environments, and remote thread configuration, improving flexibility and management. Plugin management in the app-server is enhanced with remote plugin installation and marketplace upgrades. Permission profiles are now consistently maintained across TUI sessions, user turns, MCP sandbox state, shell escalation, and app-server APIs, ensuring consistent enforcement. Model providers now manage model discovery, exposing AWS/Bedrock account state to app clients. The `codex exec --json` command now reports reasoning-token usage, aiding programmatic consumers. Rollout tracing is expanded to record tool, code-mode, session, and multi-agent relationships, accompanied by a debug reducer command for inspection. Bug fixes address issues with `/review` interruptions, exec-server output buffering, app-server project config trust, WebSocket disconnections, Windows sandbox startup, and config/schema handling. Documentation and core fixtures have been updated to reflect these changes. Upgrade is recommended to leverage the new features and bug fixes.
